Painted by Ernest Meissonier in 1875, 1807, Friedland shows Napoleon saluting his cavalry as it passes into battle against the Russian army. The emperor sits composed on a white horse while cuirassiers thunder past him, raising swords and shouting acclamation. Meissonier combines exact uniforms, polished armor, dust, and compressed movement with the controlled presence of the commander at the center. The French victory at Friedland ended the War of the Fourth Coalition and led to the Treaties of Tilsit. The painting celebrates disciplined force, personal loyalty, and confidence gathered visibly around Napoleon.

Formats & Frames

Framed Print

  • Printed on premium fine-art paper and protected by museum-level Moth-Eye acrylic. Its microscopic anti-reflective surface virtually eliminates glare, creating a remarkably clear, no-glass appearance from almost every angle. The glaze also provides up to 99.99% UV protection and weighs roughly half as much as traditional glass. Choose this format for crisp paper detail, exceptional clarity, and lasting protection.

Framed Canvas

  • The artwork is printed on heavyweight 400gsm artist-grade canvas and set inside a satin-laminated wooden frame. With no glass or acrylic covering the canvas, its woven texture remains visible and free from reflections. This format combines the substance of canvas with the finished structure of a traditional frame, making it the closest choice to the appearance of an original framed painting.

Canvas Wrap

  • Printed on heavyweight 400gsm artist-grade canvas and hand-stretched over a 1.5-inch frame made from European kiln-dried pine. The outer edges of the image are mirrored onto the sides, allowing the complete composition to remain visible from the front. With its exposed canvas texture and frameless profile, this option has the depth and physical presence of a traditional gallery canvas.

Frame Colors

  • Black has a deep, clean finish that gives the artwork strong definition and dramatic contrast.
  • Brown brings warmth and a more restrained traditional character, particularly well suited to landscapes and earth-toned paintings.
  • Antique Gold has a rich, aged appearance that complements classical, Baroque, and historical artwork.
  • The Framed Canvas and Framed Print use satin-laminated wooden frames. The Canvas Wrap is displayed without an outer frame.

Why ApolloTerra

The Best Available Image Sources
Not every print shop holds itself to the same standard. A painting that looks clear on a screen may become visibly soft or pixelated when printed at wall size. Many famous works circulate online only as small or poorly photographed files. We find the highest-resolution source available for each painting so that its faces, brushwork, architecture, and distant details remain clear in the finished piece.

No AI Upscaling
AI upscaling can invent details, over-sharpen delicate passages, and flatten the deliberate difference between a painting’s sharply rendered foreground and softer background. Every ApolloTerra image is prepared without generative AI, preserving the atmosphere, depth, and character created by the artist.

Manual Restoration
Old paintings and photographs often become yellowed, dim, or unbalanced with age. Each image is restored by hand to recover its color, contrast, clarity, and depth while remaining faithful to the original work. The result is a vivid reproduction that presents the painting closer to how it would have appeared when newly completed.

Archival Production
Each piece is made using gallery-grade printing methods and carefully selected fine-art materials. The inks and substrates are designed to preserve color, contrast, and fine detail for generations under normal display conditions. Every order is produced individually rather than taken from mass-produced inventory.

A Collection Governed by Beauty
We don't list everything that's public domain. Every painting in this collection was chosen for its historical significance and its ability to hold up at gallery scale. You won't find filler here, so you don't have to sort the exceptional from the merely available.

Free Shipping Without Surprises
Large canvas and framed artwork requires substantial protective packaging, which can make shipping unexpectedly expensive. Shipping is included in the listed price, so the amount you see on the product page is the amount you pay at checkout.
